South African Fishing Dams

There are many places in Africa where you can get the opportunity to catch large fish, but South Africa is one of the most popular locations, especially with numerous dams to choose from. Many fishers set up camp at the Doorndraai Dam in Limpopo and the Donaldson Dam in Randfontein, but there are many out there to choose from.

There are also private dams that only the locals probably know about, and one day you could be driving through a quiet village, only to see a relatively well-sized dam, where unique large fish are swimming.

Weekends tend to be the best time to fish, especially at the large Doorndraai Dam in Limpopo. There’s a bit more of an atmosphere when you’re not the only fisherman, while you may start to feel more competitive when you see a South African fisherman pulling out a humungous carp.
